For many years the CYC has maintained the Herman Boas Scholarship fund that has awarded a donation to the YMCA Camp of Maine in Winthrop in order for them to help a young camper develop an interest in and love for our beautiful Lake Cobbosseecontee. This year, however, the CYC Executive Committee asked camp director Barry Costa to select a camper to receive a full week paid campership. We are pleased to announce that this year's recipient of that $525 Herman Boas Scholarship is Savannah Green, a student at Gardiner Reginal Middle School. Savannah spent a week in August at the camp, was having a great experience when CYC Commodore David Dennett and Treasurer John Dean visited with her, and was certainly very appreciative of the opportunity created by this award.

Thanks to the YMCA Camp for all that you do for your campers!
Mike and Nancy Varanelli recently lost their CYC burgee (flag) somewhere just outside True's Cove at the south end of the lake. If anyone finds a burgee in that area, it mostly likely is theirs and we all would appreciate an email to the Commodore so it can be returned to them. Happy boating on Lake Cobbossee!
CYC is interested in finding a used vessel, an older model aluminum boat (something that can be fixed up, painted, decaled etc), with a small motor for use in getting back and forth to the lighthouse. This would save executive committee members the wear and tear on their boats that occurs when landing out there. So, we are in effect looking for another sponsor, someone who is willing and able to make this a donation to the CYC thus protecting our Lake Preservation Fund! If you have any suggestiions regarding this idea, please contact the Commodore.
Thank you one and all!
Commodore Gets New Mooring System
Clark Marine recently installed a new mooring system for the Commodore who says that, "Thanks must go to Derrick and Jake for a job well done."
And once the mooring was in...they went back and brought the Commodore's boat ready for another season!
The ice is out!
Shortly after noon on Friday, March 23 the ice cleared from Lake Cobbosseecontee. Check our Lake History, Ice-out page for further details and photos.
