OUR 2019 ANNUAL MEETING
at the AUGUSTA COUNTRY CLUB
Thanks to all who joined us for an entertaining and informative 2018 meeting. Our evening at the Augusta Country Club was very successful with nearly 80 members and guests in attendance, and we hope that you will plan to join us again next July 12 for our 2019 annual meeting. Watch this page for details.
Next year’s Cobbossee Lake Association (Your CYC) annual meeting will take place at the Augusta Country Club on Friday, July 12 at 5:30 pm and will begin with a social hour during which an expanded menu of hors d’oeuvres will be served. A cash bar will be available per usual. Following the social hour will be our annual business meeting that will include comments from Tamara Whitmore and/or Toni Pied from the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed and Bill Monagle from the Cobbossee Watershed District. This year is also an election year and more information will follow regarding at a later date.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO DINNER SERVED; therefore, again in 2019, there will be NO CHARGE! You certainly may submit a donation to go toward the hor d’oeuvres if you please, but one is not required! As there is no charge, we are expecting that the event will be well attended; therefore, as seating is limited, please tear off the reservation form provided in this newsletter, and return it to us by the indicated date. Thank you and we hope to see you on the 12th!
Also, again this year: if you wish to have dinner at your expense prior to or after our social hour/meeting, you may call the Augusta Country Club at 207-623-3021 to make a personal dinner reservation. Simply explain that you are a member of the CYC and ACC membership will not be required for this special occasion.
Hor d’oeuvres menu will potentially include: Cheese and fruit, veggies and dip, deviled egg assortment, tomato, basil and mozzarella baguette, sweet and sour meatballs, bacon wrapped scallops, spanikopita (spinach & feta in phyllo), chicken satay with peanut sauce, and quiche (Crab, Spinach, Lorraine).

PLEASE KEEP in MIND, We must continue to focus on "responsibility and safety!" As stated in the past, we welcome boats, canoes, kayaks, and jet skis, but we must ask that no docks be floated in to the concert area. The concert will not proceed if that happens!!! In agreement with the law enforcement agencies including our local wardens, we are continuing to promote this event as a family affair, we welcome you, your kids and grandkids, your friends, and we ask that you all keep safety and responsible behavior at the forefront! We also ask that everyone keep the lake pristine. Keep cigarette butts, trash, bottles, cans, jello shots, out of our beautiful lake. Thank you for this cooperative effort!
IMPORTANT! This island is PRIVATE! Please to not trespass for any reason!
REMEMBER THE FISHNET DONATIONS, as you did this year!
$2400 for 2017! A record! Thank you all.
This concert is a major fundraiser for the CYC and money that you drop in the fishnet goes directly to our Lake Preservation Fund! Please help us. This is your lake too!

A Review of Some Long Ago Past Events
ANNUAL MEETING 2013
Saturday July 13 at 4pm
Augusta Country Club
The meeting will be set up much like last year's annual meeting, so make your plans now as seating is limited. This will be another opportunity for us to join friends for a fine social event. Great food, great company and a chance to learn more about our lake. Join us. Reserve soon!
On our dinner menu: Tossed salad, Caesar salad, fruit bowl, rolls, baked manicotti with roasted garlic marina sauce, herb roasted pork loin, broiled haddock with wine, seasonal veggies, roasted red potatoes, and dessert…strawberry shortcake! YES! See you there.
Another Success (Sort of!)
It was a beautiful summer day, something that has certainly been in short order recently, and those in attendance at this 2013 annual meeting were treated to an excellent buffet and a fantastic strawberry shortcake for dessert! Officers, executive committee members and advisory members were elected for 2013-2015, Captain Hugh Stephens gave us some interesting historical tidbits, and our invited guests briefed us on the condition of the lake at this time.
The only question at this time has to be, why are the numbers of those attending this important club event dwindling on an annual basis? We used to get 80-90 people, but by 2012 we were down to the low 50s and this year the low 40s! The setting for the meeting (the Augusta Country Club) is a great venue for us, the food has been consistently good, everyone seems to have a fine time, and the speakers are brief and informative speaking about issues that are of direct concern to us. So, what is the answer? Your ideas? Contact the Commodore at commodore@cycmaine.orgwith any suggestions. As Vice Commodore, Bill Kieltyka, recently pointed out, "The meeting has so much information packed into it, and only 40 people get to hear about it!" So true! What can we do folks?
WOW!
Another Great Concert!
Saturday, July 28, 2012
Featuring the School Street Band
Sponsored by Clark Marine,Manchester
This is our most popular event of the summer! It has become a Lake Cobbosseecontee and CYC tradition! But let's be sure to keep SAFETY as a top priority! Be slow entering the cove. Do not overload your boat! Respect the no wake zone rules! And always be aware of those in the water around you.
BE SAFE!
And also remember.....
A fishnet will be passed for donations to the
CYC Lake Preservation Fund.
It was a great dayuntil the storm! Hundreds of fine family folk had a great time in the cove listening to fine music, swimmin' and munchin.' WOW!
Annual Meeting: Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Augusta Country Club!
This annual meeting was an absolute success. Really hot outdoors, the comfort level inside was just perfect, the social hour was a delight (we all had a chance to get reacquainted with old friends), our speakers were most informing, and the buffet was just terrific. In fact, this was such a truly special evening that we have already reserved the second Saturday in July of next year. So, put it on your calendar. July 13, 2013! Plan on it!

2009 Concert in Horseshoe Cove a Great Success (School Street Band Was Awesome!)
Our annual Concert in Horseshoe Cove took place on the 4th Saturday in July (7/25/09), at 1 PM. And clearly you did your sun dance as it was a beautiful afternoon, but did you participate in Laura's new tradition? Maybe next year?
Thanks to Clark Marine, our sponsor! As a result of their annual generosity, the $500 collected this year (thank you to all who were so generous),goes directly to our Lake Preservation Fund. CYC, according to its By-laws, must "promote the appreciation and wise use of the lake, protect its natural beauty, promote boating and water safety, and promote the overall improvement of water quality."
So again, thank you for helping us in our quest to maintain this beautiful lake by contributing so generously!
What a great afternoon it was. Superb weather, a fantastic crowd, probably a record number of boats, and School Street Band was awesome. Laura Hudson! Great addition, guys!
$695.25 Collected for the CYC Lake Preservation Fund. Another record. Many thanks to you all!
