The Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club, on Friday, July 14, 2017, held its annual meeting at the Augusta Country Club. The evening event started off with a social hour and a delightful selection of hors d’oeuvres chosen by the CYC executive committee and very professionally served by the ACC staff. Everything was delicious! Following the social hour, during which time some 50-60 of our members were able to enjoy a casual atmosphere and an opportunity to mix with lake friends, our traditional business meeting took place in the main dining room.
2017 is an election year for the CYC so the primary focus during that business meeting portion of the evening was to elect a slate of officers and executive committee members for the 2017 to 2019 period. To see the results of that election go to the Officers page. Our meeting included a moment of silence for Betty Stephens, the wife of our former commodore and current Keeper of the Light, Captain Hugh Stephens (please join us for a memorial tribute to Betty at our lighthouse at 10 am on July 22), as well as recognition of our very important sponsors, discussion of our previous and coming summer events, a brief presentation by Tamara Whitmore executive director of the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed (who also read an update letter from Bill Monagle, executive director of the Cobbossee Watershed District), and a report from our own Debbi Farrell concerning the latest water clarity reports for our lake.
The officers and executive committee members of the CYC would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Augusta Country Club for providing us with a fine evening, and our members who took the time to join us for this annual get together. We value their membership as it certainly helps us maintain our primary objective as “Your Lake Association!” Spread the Word!
