ANNUAL MEETING 2015 SATURDAY, JULY 11 at the AUGUSTA COUNTRY CLUB Social hour 4pm...Buffet 5pm...Business meeting 6pm
A fine time was had by those in attendance at our annual meeting Saturday afternoon, but, as you can tell by the photos below, our numbers were way down this year. Total attendance...approximately 36 members. As the commodore mentioned in his remarks, we have tried to solve the issue of reduced numbers in recent years by changing the day from Sunday to Saturday, the late afternoon regular schedule for our cocktail parties or so called boat-in/drive-ins. We thought that might help increase attendance, but that was not to be, at least for this year. Historically, we used to get anywhere from 75 to 85 attendees although the last couple of years we have only had around 55. And this year, well.....
So, what do we do now? Most likely we will try it again next year and just hope for a more productive response. We must have an annual meeting especially during the year that we elect officers and executive committee members, and the ACC is definitely an ideal location. The atmosphere is quality, the opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors is definitely enjoyable, the staff very cooperative and helpful, the food always good and the price reasonable, the information presented during the business meeting is interesting and useful, and the bottom line is, simply stated, this works for us.
Keeping in mind that our annual meeting is usually the second Saturday in July, we must announce that there is a 2016 glitch, that being, the Augusta Country Club has a wedding already reserved for that date. Therefore, please note that our annual meeting for 2016 will take place on ????? Please plan to join us!
What a nice gesture. Not only does Keeper of the Light Captain Hugh Stephens take such great care of our lighthouse, he and wife Betty have made sure that it looks looks beautiful as well. Above they present the CYC commodore, David Dennett, with a new flag! As you may know, our flagpole broke during one of the many winter storms and Hugh is currently working to get a new pole in place. Thank you Betty and Hugh for your dedication and caring!
Apparently there are plenty of leftovers for anyone so inclined!
Our Next Annual Meeting is Friday, June 24, 2016. Social hour 5pm... dinner 6pm...business meeting 7pm Please plan to join us... We believe that you will have a fine time!
AND NOTE THE CHANGE OF DAY AND TIME!
